Learning Objectives

  •  Understand that an asthma lung attack (not ‘exacerbation’) is serious, a ‘never event’ like cutting off the wrong leg in an operating room, and is a ‘near-death’ experience.

  •  Appreciate what can trigger an asthma attack, especially those triggers which are susceptible to modulation.

  •  Respond appropriately in the aftermath of an attack to prevent the otherwise certain, and possibly fatal, recurrence.
